The Indian health ministry has asked over 10 domestic manufacturers to produce personal protective equipment (PPE), such as goggles, face-shield, mask, gloves, coveralls, gowns, head covers and shoe covers, for medical professionals treating COVID-19 patients after suitably amending PPE standards, joint secretary in the ministry Lav Agarwal recently said.

The government has also decided to import PPE and the health ministry has already started collaborating with the external affairs ministry regarding this, Agarwal was quoted as saying by a news agency.
