Indian minister for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) Nitin Gadkari recently said MSMEs will play an important role in job creation in the country. Out of six crore MSMEs, 2 crore are unregistered. Till now 11.5 crore people have got employment in this sector and a target of 5 crore new jobs from this sector has been set, he said at an event.

Twenty nine per cent growth belongs to MSMEs, which contribute 40 per cent to exports, a news agency quoted Gadkari as saying.

India needs to increase exports and limit imports and maximise capital investment in the MSME sector, he emphasised. (DS)
