It is to be noted that originally BRICS had five members: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. However, the number of member nations has grown to ten as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran have also become members.
According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, Turkiye’s apparel exports to Russia dipped to $104.326 million in 2020 from $265.154 million in 2019. However, they increased to $125.630 million in 2021 and $171.269 million in 2022. The shipment jumped to $623.461 million in 2023.
Shipments to Saudi Arabia were valued at $131.937 million in January-April 2024, compared to $179.638 million in 2023. Previously, it was noted as $28.364 million in 2022, $6.425 million in 2021, $85.066 million in 2020, and $268.612 million in 2019.
The shipment to UAE, third largest market, was valued at $65.366 million in January-April 2024 against the trade of $156.025 million in the last year 2023. It was noted as $170.741 million in 2022, $78.340 million in 2021, $51.943 million in 2020 and $136.427 million of 2019.
During January-April 2024, Turkiye’s apparel exports to China were noted at $21.105 million, Egypt $16.938 million, Iran $8.058 million, South Africa $4.340 million, India $4.226 million, Ethiopia $3.392 million, and Brazil $0.986 million, as per TexPro.
Last year, Turkiye's outgoing trade was recorded as follows: China $64.941 million, Egypt $68.867 million, Iran $16.132 million, South Africa $13.008 million, India $16.194 million, Ethiopia $10.243 million, and Brazil $4.157 million.
