South Korea had imported apparel from Cambodia worth $162.476 million in the corresponding of last year.
According to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro, South Korea’s apparel imports were noted at $191.374 million during the last year 2022, when the trade had witnessed a rise of 14.49 per cent from the shipment of $167.151 million in 2021. Earlier, the inbound shipment was valued at $169.716 million in 2020, $187.650 million in 2019, $173.889 million in 2018 and $142.751 million in 2017.
However, Cambodia’s share was as little as 1.57 per cent of South Korea’s total apparel import of $12.189 billion in 2022, when the Southeast Asian country was the seventh largest apparel supplier for South Korea. Among larger suppliers, China, Vietnam, Italy, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Myanmar had contributed around 80 per cent in south Korea’s total apparel import during 2022.
As per TexPro, trousers & shorts contributed 30.02 per cent in South Korea’s total apparel import from Cambodia during the first ten months of the current year. The import of trousers & shorts was valued at $52.805 million during the period. Among top five garment products, the share of jersey import was 20.34 per cent, T-shirts 16.25 per cent, shirts 6.83 per cent, and innerwear 6.82 per cent of south Korea’s total apparel import in January-October 2023.
