Sri Lanka’s Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) hopes for a robust export-oriented textile industry after expressing satisfaction over the measures adopted following the 2018 budget. The customs ordinance, the new exchange management law and the modified inland revenue laws were some of the regulatory changes that the apparel industry looked forward to.

All bottlenecks hindering growth were seriously taken into consideration in while bringing in the regulatory changes, Sri Lankan media reported quoting a press statement issued by JAAF.

Commending amendments in certain labour laws that were not in the interest of the workforce and processes in government agencies for facilitating e-commerce transactions in near future, JAAF welcomed the government’s objective of looking at the land and rent acts. (DS)
