In a recent study by Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) funded by ARTA (American Reusable Textile Association), use of reusable coveralls provides several direct benefits. In terms of energy reduction, selection of reusable coveralls provide: 34 per cent improvement in process energy and a resultant reduction in environmental impacts; 27 per cent improvement in carbon footprint (measured as carbon dioxide equivalents); 73 per cent lower water use than required for disposable coveralls, because water used for processing is returned to stream quality via wastewater treatment; and 93 per cent reduction in waste costs.
