Jointly funded by the European Union (EU) and the Finnish government, the project, titled ‘SWITCH to Circular Economy Value Chains (SWITCH2CE)’, will address environmental concerns associated with textile waste have that emerged as a critical challenge in Bangladesh.
The launch event, jointly organised by UNIDO and the Bangladesh commerce ministry in Dhaka, highlighted project strategies, including the model of piloting circular strategies with the private sector; showcased circularity in the textiles and garments industry; and explored policy and knowledge ecosystems, UNIDO said in a release.
The project will work with domestic and international partners from the private sector, think-tanks and the government in Bangladesh.
