China exported women’s apparel worth $12.959 billion which was 38.98 per cent of its total exports to Europe. Menswear accounted for $5.563 billion (16.73 per cent) and babywear for $884.036 million (2.66 per cent), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
China’s knitted garment exports to the market were at $20.015 billion (60.20 per cent) and woven garment exports were at $13.234 billion (39.80 per cent) in the same period. Material-wise analysis shows that China’s exports of man-made fibre apparel were dominant with a value of $15.541 billion or 46.74 per cent of the total exports. The shipment of cotton apparel was at $9.506 billion (28.59 per cent), wool/animal hair apparel was at $1.172 billion (3.53 per cent), and silk apparel was at $75.611 million (0.23 per cent), as per TexPro.
Coming to the product-wise market penetration, China exported jerseys worth $5.494 billion which was 16.52 per cent of the total exports. Trousers and shorts exports were at $5.150 billion (15.49 per cent), dresses at $2.599 billion (7.82 per cent), innerwear at $2.441 billion (7.34 per cent) and jackets and blazers at $2.305 billion (6.93 per cent).
