In the three months to October this year, the value of sales fell by 0.4 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ), whereas the volume of sales decreased by 1.3 per cent QoQ.
The value of retail trade continued to grow for the 31st month in a row in October in the year-on-year (YoY) series, rising by 0.3 per cent, while the volume sales fell by 4 per cent. The value of sales for clothing dropped by 5 per cent YoY in October, the official statistics agency Istat said in a release.
Large-scale distribution in the country was up by 2.2 per cent YoY in October, while small-scale distribution fell by 1.8 per cent YoY and non-store retail sales grew by 0.5 per cent YoY.
After falling in September, online sales grew by 1.6 per cent YoY in in October this year.
