Trove, the US-based market leader in branded recommerce powering circular shopping for lululemon, Levi’s, Patagonia, REI, Eileen Fisher and other leading brands, has announced that it has appointed Shelley Bransten to its board of directors. Bransten has more than two decades of experience working at the intersection of retail and technology.

Bransten, who serves as corporate vice president, global retail and consumer goods industries, at Microsoft, has decades of experience identifying the best opportunities for growth and digital transformation within retail and sees sustainability and recommerce as crucial to brands’ growth strategies and long-term success, the company said in a press release.

As corporate vice president, global retail and consumer goods industries, at Microsoft, Bransten partners with consumer brands and retailers to help digitally transform their businesses with Microsoft technology. She previously served as senior vice president, retail and consumer goods industries, at Salesforce, where she launched business solutions that addressed the challenges facing the retail industry. Prior to joining Salesforce, Bransten spent nearly 16 years as a senior marketing executive at Gap, setting the vision and execution of world-class CRM programmes for Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. Bransten also serves as a board member of the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) and in 2022 was named one of Rethink Retail’s Top Retail Influencers and one of Retail Today’s 50 Outstanding Women in Retail. Bransten holds a BA in Political Science and Spanish from Duke University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

“Bransten brings unparalleled retail, technology and marketing expertise to our board, combined with a passion for sustainability and building the circular economy. In addition, she’s a highly respected thought leader and business influencer whose vision has helped guide the retail industry for many years. We’re extremely pleased to welcome Shelley to the board and we’re confident that her contributions will benefit not only our own business, but the entire retail industry,” Andy Ruben, CEO of Trove, said in a statement.

“Recommerce is growing faster than traditional retail because consumers are increasingly aware of the need for all of us to prioritise sustainability and extend the lifespan of products we buy. That makes it crucial for brands to take control of their own resale and take-back channels and maintain their direct relationships with their customers. I’m honoured to join the board of a company whose business model and mission align so closely with my own values and the goals I’ve supported throughout my career,” Bransten, said.
