Gildan, an American-owned Canadian manufacturer of branded clothing, has bagged the 23rd position among 250 brands on the eighth edition of the Fashion Transparency Index by Fashion Revolution. Gildan acquired a score of 54 on the index.

“Gildan is proud to be part of the index for the 7th consecutive year, residing in the same percentile as brands like Adidas, Hugo Boss, and Ralph Lauren; further highlighting our commitment to upholding transparency and ethicality in our business practice,” the company said.

The Index ranks 250 of the world’s largest fashion brands and retailers based on their public disclosure of human rights and environmental policies, practices, and impacts, across their operations and supply chains.

In this edition of the Index, the average score of 250 of the world’s largest fashion brands crept up by 2 percentage points to just 26 per cent. For the first time in 2023, two brands scored 80 per cent or higher. However, 70 out of 250 brands (28 per cent) still score in the 0-10 per cent range.
