Titled ‘How to Boost Productivity by 2-8% by Improving Manufacturing Methods-Time-Cost (SMVs)’, the virtual event is aimed at fashion manufacturers eager to improve their efficiency and profitability.
The global fashion industry currently grapples with increasing costs of raw materials and labour, fragmented orders, and a shift to on-demand production. These complications are eroding profit margins. The upcoming webinar will introduce attendees to GSD (General Sewing Data), the industry standard for calculating Standard Minute Values (SMVs), which can considerably augment productivity and improve the right first-time percentage.
Key discussion points will include challenges in apparel manufacturing; improving method-time-cost standards and establishing accurate SMVs; optimising project and proposal costings; building stronger relationships with brands by sharing a common language; effective line balancing with faster delivery; and supporting worker motivation, retention, and fair wages. The webinar will also present real industry examples demonstrating tangible return on investment (ROI).
Speakers for the event are Wesley Ekman, global sales director for Coats Digital, and Harry Champaneri, senior pre-sales consultant at Coats Digital.
Ekman, an alumnus of GIBS Business School, led the integration of the key acquisitions of GSD, FastReact Systems and Threadsol into a single go-to-market strategy, to deliver a digital transformation roadmap specifically for apparel manufacturers. This covered design, development and costing through to production planning and shop floor execution underpinned by a re-engineered customer experience.
Champaneri, an Industrial Engineer by qualification, brings 35 years of experience in consulting and implementation in apparel and footwear manufacturing, among other sectors. He has been delivering excellent consulting/trainings on GSD across various stages viz sales, pre-sales, implementation, after-sales and helping fashion manufacturers achieve optimum operational efficiencies.
Overall, the webinar will help manufacturers and stakeholders in the fashion industry to gain valuable insights and potentially transform their operational effectiveness.
