The survey found that most consumers primarily shop for themselves during major sales events. For Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, 68 per cent of shoppers buy for themselves, while 45 per cent shop for immediate family. Similarly, during Black Friday and Cyber Week sales, 72 per cent focus on personal purchases, and 49 per cent shop for their immediate family.
Fifty-eight per cent of respondents view fall and winter sales events as an opportunity to complete most of their holiday shopping. Forty-six per cent use these events to purchase specific items they've had their eye on, while 45 per cent shop opportunistically to snag the best deals. Additionally, 40 per cent take advantage of the sales to stock up on household essentials.

The participants planned to spend in various categories, with 63 per cent intending to buy clothing and shoes, 50 per cent aiming to purchase groceries, and 40 per cent planning to spend on tech and electronics, personal care products, and toys.
Over 1,189 American adults participated in the survey developed by Slickdeals and conducted via Suzy.
