India’s Flipkart is concentrating more on categories like grocery, furniture and private labels to attract customers to its platform and expand its market share, according to chief executive officer Kalyan Krishnamurthy. Flipkart will continue to invest in innovation for consumers and sellers this year with a focus on ‘impactful, inclusive growth’, he said.

As a mere 20-25 per cent of customer's wallet is served by e-commerce categories today, adding new categories will raise that to 70-75 per cent, he explained.
The Walmart-backed company aims to bring the next 200 million customers into the e-commerce fold, he said. Adding regional languages to its platform will, however, take some time, he added. (DS)
