As part of its global cost-cutting exercise, Amazon yesterday announced it is discontinuing Amazon Distribution, its wholesale e-commerce website available in some parts of Bengaluru, Mysore and Hubli. The US e-commerce giant had launched its distribution service in the country to empower local grocery and department stores and pharmacies.Earlier, it shut down its food delivery and online learning platform called Academy in India. Amazon started its food delivery service in India in May 2020.

The US e-commerce giant had launched its distribution service in the country to empower local grocery and department stores and pharmacies.
“We are discontinuing these programmes in a phased manner to take care of current customers and partners,” the company said in an emailed statement.
“We remain committed to India and will continue to invest across those areas where we can bring value to our customers,” the statement added.
