Rural sellers, including those from Rhode Island, Illinois, Louisiana, West Virginia, and Wyoming, noted over 40 per cent sales growth on a year-on-year basis. Selling on Amazon also led to the creation of an estimated 1.5 million US jobs tied to managing, operating, and supporting these sellers. US brand owners experienced over 20 per cent year-on-year sales growth in Amazon's store, according to the latest US Small Business Empowerment Report by Amazon.
To make local businesses more visible, Amazon introduced the 'Small Business' badge, facilitating customers' support for US-based small businesses and artisans, including those that are Black-owned, women-owned, and military family-owned.
The report identified apparel as among the top categories for US independent sellers. California, Florida, New York, Texas, and New Jersey were listed as the states with the most independent sellers, while Wyoming, Delaware, Florida, Utah, and New Jersey saw the highest number of sellers per capita.
