Eight categories experienced YoY price increases in February 2023, including apparel and personal care, as per Adobe DPI.
In the apparel category, prices were up 5.1 per cent YoY (up 0.3 per cent MoM) in February 2023. In recent months, price increases for the category have slowed compared to a year ago when prices rose 16.7 per cent in February 2022.
In February 2023, consumers also saw prices fall YoY for home goods. The furniture/bedding category also fell for the first time after rising for 33 consecutive months, dropping 0.1 per cent YoY (down 0.6 per cent MoM).
On an MoM basis, six of the 18 categories in the DPI saw prices fall. Price increases were observed in twelve categories including apparel and sporting goods.
