Hubert de Givenchy, who founded French luxury fashion and perfume house Givenchy in 1952, has died at the age of 91, according to media reports. Givenchy was known for creating styles for Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy, and for the famous ‘Little black dress’. The house of Givenchy is now owned by luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE.“It is with huge sadness that we inform you that Hubert Taffin de Givenchy has died,” Givenchy said in a statement to AFP.
Givenchy hosts the brand of haute couture clothing, accessories and Parfums Givenchy, perfumes and cosmetics. It is a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture et du Pret-a-Porter. Its current artistic director is Clare Waight Keller. (RKS)
