Lakme, FDCI & RBL to host fashion week in New Delhi from October 11

Lakme, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Reliance Brands (RBL) have announced the return of the official fashion week of the country to New Delhi. The upcoming edition is set to take place from October 11-15, 2023 at Pragati Maidan.

The event will open with a grand show on October 10 at an offsite location which will see the coming of an Indian designer and his interpretation from Lakme’s Glitterati collection, and will be presented by Lakme, FDCI and RBL. The platform is gearing up to bring to the fore a spectacular line-up of designers, including new, emerging, and established talent and present the latest beauty trends in the country.

This season, once again, Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI will bring a tactile representation of the brand’s inspired festive spirit on the runway in New Delhi. Inspired by the brand’s new collection, the theme -‘Glitterati’, is equal parts reminder and invitation to let a touch of sparkle do the talking this Winter-Festive season. In a first, the upcoming edition will see Lakme unveil a series of makeup and skin trends. The two Lakme showcases for the season will be the Lakme Glitterati show on October 10 and the event will culminate with the House of Lakme grand finale on October 15, marking the homecoming of an Indian designer, whose work over the years has transcended cultural and geographical boundaries. The designers will be announced subsequently.

The Fashion Design Council of India is the apex body of fashion design in India, represented by over 400 members. The FDCI showroom will attract buyers from across the globe helping design talent to explore business avenues and opportunities. The last day of the event will also host the FDCI stockroom providing the event direct consumer connect as they get to purchase off the ramp collections and interface with designers. In continuation with its resolve to spotlight the best in Indian fashion, the FDCI showcase designer for the season is Pero. A special curation by the FDCI ‘Fashion Wears Art’ will also feature top Indian Artists teaming up with leading fashion designers for an experiential showcase which will be announced shortly.

Reliance Brands stands as a leader in the luxury and fashion space in India and operates the Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI. A significant focus of the organisation goes into the development of young fashion and design talent and developing sustainability narratives in the country through platforms like gen next and circular design challenge. The circular design challenge in partnership with R-Elan and the UN in India has now been scaled into a global platform with the finals planned to be presented at UN headquarters in Delhi on sustainable fashion day. The Reliance Brands showcase of the season will be Abraham & Thakore as they bring their contemporary aesthetic rooted in Indian craft and textiles to the fore in a grand showcase.
