Coach, Burberry, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors have been named as winners in the biggest luxury fashion moment category of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Fashion Awards 2018 in recognition of their decision to discard fur. Helskini Fashion Week was judged the most progressive event due to its call to ban leather on the catwalk.

In the digital sphere, Asos was named the most progressive online platform because of its ban on mohair, silk, feathers and cashmere products.

Over 300 high street retailers, including Mango, H&M, Topshop and Zara, were mentioned in this year's awards round-up after committing to a ban on mohair, PETA said in a statement.

London-based vegan fashion house Felder Felder was also given credit for its collaboration with Ecoalf on a capsule collection of waterproof coats crafted solely from sustainable materials.

Brand Alexandra K was awarded for its chic apple leather bags while London-based label Jakke was praised for its wool-free collection.
French trainer giant Veja received the prize for best vegan shoe line with its street style-worthy designs. (DS)
