Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) has announced the appointment of Federica Marchionni as chief executive officer (CEO). GFA is the leading forum for industry collaboration and public-private cooperation on fashion sustainability. GFA, based in Denmark is behind the largest business event on sustainability in fashion, the Copenhagen Fashion Summit.
In her new role, Marchionni will be responsible for accelerating the growth of the organisation and building on its solid ten-year foundation based on a collective commitment to make sustainability fashion’s first priority. Her main tasks will include elevating the organisation’s prestigious forums including Copenhagen Fashion Summit and CFS+, continuing the publication of reputable thought leadership, and propelling its advocacy efforts. Marchionni brings a wealth of experience to the organisation with a broad and varied understanding of the fashion industry and digital expertise, having previously attained leadership roles in Europe, USA and China. Most recently, Marchionni held the role of International CEO of Secoo, a Chinese e-commerce platform and one of the largest online luxury retailers in China. Prior to Secoo, she was CEO and board director at Lands’ End and president of Dolce&Gabbana, based in New York. Her career began in the telecommunication industry in Italy, working for global players such as Samsung, Philips and Ericsson. Marchionni has a diverse set of skills and has placed sustainability high on her agenda during her career, GFA said in a press release.
Marchionni will commence her role on June 1, 2021 and will relocate to Copenhagen, where she will lead the energised and dedicated GFA team.
“The GFA board of directors and I are delighted to welcome such an esteemed senior fashion executive who has served in a wide array of leadership roles in Europe, USA, and China. We’re certain that Federica, together with the GFA team, will expand the reach of our mission to make fashion sustainable,” Niels Eskildsen, chairman of GFA said in a statement.
