“The boost in sales is especially due to favourable trend in wholesale sales in Finland, which was particularly supported by non-recurring promotional deliveries,” the company said in its interim report for the first nine months of the current year.
The company’s operating profit also improved significantly in the third quarter, reaching €13.3 million.
The omnichannel retail sales were also increased by 3 per cent and the wholesale sales too grew by 23 per cent.
“Our long-term work to develop the Marimekko brand is one of the reasons behind our strong performance. The results of this work and the modernisation of our collections are naturally seen the fastest in our strong home market in Finland, where our net sales increased by 25 per cent in the third quarter,” Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, the president and chief executive officer of the company, said while commenting on the company’s performance in a press release.
