Presented to the representatives of the Ministry of Labour, trade unions and the regions of Lombardy and Abruzzo, the plan outlines the restructuring of its three production sites in Abruzzo to rationalise the costs while maintaining its production standards. The brand employs over 1,000 people in its Penne, Montebello di Bertona and Civitella Casanova workshops in this region.
The plan takes into account the profound transformation in the luxury men’s formalwear market in the past few years, exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic, Brioni said in a statement. Out of its workforce, the company plans to lay off up to a maximum of 320 workers who are employed directly and indirectly in production. The aim is to implement all necessary actions for the recovery and development of the brand.
The new plan focuses on the brand’s development in accessories and other product categories, with a focus on luxury casualwear to broaden its customer base and shopping potential, Brioni continued. The business aims to bring itself to sustainable levels of efficiency and profitability in the long term.
