The production of man-made fibres (MMF), comprising synthetic fibres and cellulosic fibres, declined 3.1 per cent year-on-year to 78,280 tons in August 2017, data from the Japan Chemical Fibres Association revealed. While synthetic fibre output fell 5.2 per cent to 62,124 tons, cellulosic fibre production increased by 5.8 per cent to 16,156 tons.
