BGMEA and BEZA jointly to develop 500-acre garment park in Chittagong

RMG Times Desk Report  Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Export Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) joined hands to lease out 500 acres of land at Mirsarai economic zone in Chittagong for developing a garment park. In this regard both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at a program held at Hotel Radission Blu in Dhaka.

BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman and BEZA Executive Member Md. Harunur Rashid signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

Principal Co-ordinator (SDG Affairs) at the Prime Minister’s Office Md. Abul Kalam Azad attended the MoU signing ceremony as chief guest while BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury presided over the program.

Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose, FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), former BGMEA Presidents Abdus Salam Murshedy and Md. Atiqul Islam, BGMEA First Vice President Moinuddin Ahmed, Senior Vice President Faruque Hassan, Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi) and BGMEA Directors were present at the program.

In his address BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman thanked the government for leasing out 500 acres of land at the economic zone for building apparel factories.

Later on the guest and audience appreciated this signing ceremony stating as a historical event.
