Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society, Co-optex, has recorded sales of Rs 315 crore during 2016-17. In a bid to increase sales, the society has initiated several steps including setting up of new outlets across the state. One such new showroom has been set up in Vedaranyam. Co-optex currently has 194 outlets across the country.
"Co-optex has recorded total sales of Rs 315 crore in 2016-17 and registered Rs two crore as profit. The minister was in Vedaranyam to inaugurate the new showroom which has been set up at a cost of Rs 30 lakh, the release said.
With a view to increase sales, new Co-optex outlets were being established across the state, he said.
Set up in 1935, Co-optex currently has 194 outlets across the country.
The newly opened outlet in Vedaranyam would sell a range of products including cotton shirts, sarees and bed sheets at 20 per cent discount. During festive seasons discounts would go upto 30 per cent, he said. (SV)
