India’s index of industrial production (IIP) grew by 5.9 per cent to 154.2 in May this year compared to 145.6 in the same month last year, according to quick estimates by the government. The IIP for manufacturing grew by 4.6 per cent year on year (YoY) to 149.7 in the month.The indices stood at 160.9 for primary goods, 105.2 for capital goods, 160.8 for intermediate goods and 185.1 for infrastructure/construction goods in May.
