The increase in production of clothing items will be beneficial for local and export markets, said Industry and Enterprise Development principal secretary Julius Korir, during his recent visit to Rivatex. It will also suffice the demands of the Export Processing Zone factories, he added.
Rivatex is a textile manufacturing company wholly owned by the Moi University for commercial and research purposes. Earlier this year, the company received a Sh3 billion loan from the government of India through the Exim Bank to buy a modern textile machine for the factory, which was essential for its revival.
Besides Rivatex, Korir also emphasised on restoring the Kicomi textile sector at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University. (RR)
