The new route is planned to operate three flights per week and will contribute more than 20,000 tonnes of international cargo throughput growth annually to the Baiyun airport, according to the company.
The all-cargo freighter landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Thursday at 2 am Beijing time, having departed Paris at 10 pm local time on Tuesday. The maiden flight left the airport at 5 am on Thursday, fully loaded with cargo bound for Paris, said Chinese media reports quoting Guangdong Airport Authority’s logistics firm.
The airport's network of airlines covers more than 230 shipping points worldwide. In 2022, the airport's cargo and mail handling capacity surpassed 1.88 million tonnes, making it the second-largest airport in China for three consecutive years since 2020.
The Baiyun airport is presently undergoing expansion, which will increase its total cargo terminal area to more than 1 million square meters, with a terminal cargo handling capacity of 6 million tonnes by 2025.
