The Eurasia Group recently opened a garment factory in Kashkar Kyshtak village of Kara-Suu district in Kyrgyzstan with support from the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The factory is part of a broader textile and garment complex, with a total investment of over $27 million.

The Eurasia Group invested over $3.4 million in the facility and USAID provided technical assistance to improve product quality, create more efficient production processes, create a website and organise a fashion hackathon.

The US embassy in Bishkek said the unit is expected to generate 600 jobs and is set to expand the country’s presence in global markets.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and USAID for mission director for the country Sara Werth participated in the opening ceremony, according to media reports from the country.

Once fully operational, the factory plans to export its products to the Middle East and North Africa, the European Union, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
