Dutch firm Neffa is currently focussing on MycoTEX, a sustainable fabric created from mycelium, the roots of mushrooms, and is using 3D-modelling to create seamless perfect-fit garments from this new textile without the need to cut and sew, according to company founder Aniela Hoitink, who believes this textile can disrupt the fashion industry.
The company’s shorter supply chain eliminates the need for chemicals and pesticides. It reduces water usage by 99.5 per cent and local production reduces transport.
