  • Timex Garments adopts WFX ERP for specialised, cloud-based digital transformation, enhancing efficiency.
  • Replacing SAP with WFX, Timex gains industry-specific solutions with WFX ERP for garment manufacturing.
  • New WFX ERP ensures Timex Garments remains innovative and responsive to market changes.
  • This shift will enable Timex to improve operational efficiency.

In a landmark decision, Timex Garments, a global leader in the garment manufacturing industry, has announced its transition to WFX Apparel ERP for its digital transformation journey. This strategic move marks a significant shift from their legacy ERP SAP, a system they have depended on for many years.

Timex Garments, founded in 1967, is renowned for its quality and innovation. With 12 factories in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Timex exports to over 15 countries, catering to some of the biggest names in fashion like H&M, M&S, Next, SKIMS and more. Employing over 10,000 people, the company has been at the forefront of adopting new technologies to streamline its manufacturing processes.

Upgrading to WFX Apparel ERP

The quickly evolving nature of the garment industry posed challenges for Timex that SAP could not address. While SAP’s horizontal ERP is an adequate solution for standard operations and transaction processing, it requires far too much customization to handle the complexities of an apparel manufacturing business.

Timex wanted end-to-end visibility across their entire manufacturing operation. They needed visibility in areas that are typically not covered by standard solutions like SAP. That’s when they realized that their requirements could only be managed by a specialized solution provider covering garment industry-specific modules such as product lifecycle management (PLM), sampling, shop floor control, production planning, product traceability, and more.

For a manufacturing business to run efficiently, there must be tight integration of all processes, connecting all operations on a single platform. That’s the only way to ship high-quality garment products on time, in full, and at a low cost—which cannot be done on a standard system.

The Rigorous Selection Process

Understanding the critical need for an efficient ERP system, Timex embarked on a meticulous evaluation process. Over the course of a year, the company analyzed various market options with the assistance of the leading consulting firm Ernst & Young. This exhaustive assessment led them to WFX Apparel ERP, which stood out for its industry-specific solutions and robust capabilities.

Arshad Sattar, managing director, Timex Garments said, “We needed a solution that grows with us and adapts to the dynamic nature of our industry. WFX not only met all our current ERP requirements but also demonstrated a clear vision for the future with their best-in-class solutions and team of industry experts. They are a partner we can rely on to solve challenges and achieve our aspirations in manufacturing.”

The 100% cloud-based WFX Apparel ERP system covers all garment processes from order receipt to payment, including procurement, production planning, inventory, manufacturing execution system (MES), warehousing, financial transactions, production, logistics and beyond.

Beyond this, WFX’s focus on the garment sector keeps them attuned to industry changes, such as the rising demand for traceability reporting due to new sustainability regulations. For instance, WFX has already developed and deployed a traceability solution to meet this requirement, allowing users to manage everything seamlessly without needing customizations.

Innovation, Expertise & Customer Satisfaction: Key Factors

WFX’s commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and adaptability was a crucial factor in Timex's decision. As was the positive feedback Timex heard from WFX’s existing customers across Sri Lanka and around the world.  These testimonials highlighted WFX's reliability, effectiveness, and the tangible benefits their solutions have brought to other businesses.

Arshad Sattar, managing director, Timex Garments added, “Our industry is changing so quickly that new requirements can arise at any time through regulations or other industry shifts.  WFX, as industry specialists, already has solutions to address such requirements.”

Additionally, WFX's team of experts, with deep domain knowledge, bolsters confidence in the implementation process. The team’s hands-on approach ensures that clients not only adopt but also thrive with the new system, achieving significant milestones in their digital transformation journeys.

Looking Forward

The adoption of WFX Apparel ERP by Timex Garments signifies a pivotal step in their digital transformation journey. With this advanced, industry-specific Cloud Apparel ERP solution, Timex is well-positioned to enhance operational efficiency, respond swiftly to market changes, and continue its legacy of innovation and quality in the garment industry.

“We are excited to partner with Timex Garments on their digital transformation journey,” said Jatin Paul, CEO, WFX. “Our platform is designed to address the current and upcoming challenges of the garment industry, and we’re committed to helping Timex achieve new levels of efficiency and innovation.”

Timex Garments' embrace of WFX Apparel ERP not only exemplifies their commitment to innovation but also sets a new standard for the garment manufacturing industry. As they forge ahead, Timex is poised to achieve unprecedented levels of success and sustainability, reinforcing their status as an industry leader.
