After having launched outside Europe for the first time in the beginning of this year, Belgium-based IT company Avantida has now set sail towards Asia. Avantida, an E2Open company, is an online platform that facilitates services offered by ocean lines to transport and logistic companies for digitally optimised container transport planning.

"The intercontinental success of the company shows that its solutions and applications provide an answer to global needs," Avantida said in a press release.

“Our recent efforts in Europe and North America eliminate 1 empty container truck ride every 30 seconds. Launching the Avantida services in Asia is a strategic pillar to us, and it’s a pivotable step for the industry to eliminate unnecessary CO2 emissions. We take pride in increasing the environmental impact we generate through our holistic empty container management platform,” said Avantida general manager Rico Van Leuken.

As of October, Japanese transporters will be able to request their street turns, as well as their change of drop-off and pick-up yards, through the Avantida platform. Avantida expects to start with 4 major, top-10 ocean lines by the first of October, offering its services around all of Japan.

“We’re very excited that Japan will be our first Asian country that we add to our network,” said Yannick Lefevre, Avantida’s head of Global Account Management. “It’s a strong market with lots of challenges. Getting started here offers us an excellent experience that we can use for the rest of the continent. By the end of this year we want to be active in other Asian countries as well; most notably Singapore and Malaysia are high on our radar at the moment.

With truck driver shortages in almost every country, rising fuel prices and growing congestion around port areas and in manufacturing regions, Avantida’s ReUse and DepotX applications will prove to be great solutions the Asian intermodal sector can use to transform its logistics and optimise road transports."
