Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sought all-out cooperation and support of the UN for a smooth and sustainable graduation of Bangladesh from LDC to a developing country. BGMEA recently discussed various issues and the areas where the country needs to focus for a smooth graduation with UN resident coordinator Mia Seppo.

In a meeting held in Dhaka recently, Seppo and BGMEA president Faruque Hassan also discussed the importance of policy reforms and research to explore strategies to keep the RMG industry competitive in the post-LDC era, the association said in a press note.

They also talked about how the RMG sector can make more contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh.
