ID Knitting has launched a fabric collection for innerwear and sleepwear with pilbloc, Thai Acrylic Fiber’s (TAF) anti-pilling fibre with engineering process, formulated to resist pilling over time, resulting in decelerating the ageing process of the apparel. According to TAF this is aimed to expand the market for brands both in Thailand and Japan.

Pilbloc is also similar in comfort to natural fibres with unique hand-feel. It can also easily be blended with other fibres and have the pill performance enhanced.

“We have been working with some Japanese and Thai brands mainly in kidswear, so this is our next phase to develop a fabric collection for innerwear and sleepwear. We have previously worked with one of TAF’s products - Radianza. What we experienced from it was that Radianza looked and felt like cotton; that convinced us that we could actually develop acrylic fibre to the next level in innerwear and sleepwear,” Tanapol Kiatsaveekul, managing director of ID Knitting Co Ltd, said in a press release.

“TAF presented us to pilbloc, an anti-pilling fibre that can last long wash after wash through its lifetime. We decided to develop it by blending with various fibres, such as cotton, viscose, and PCM. The fabrics turned out very nice and soft with excellent pilling test results shown 3.5-4.0. We are truly happy with that,” Kiatsaveekul said.

“Pilling is a major problem in synthetic fibres. There are a lot of anti-piling products out there in the market, but what makes pilbloc stand out is that our product undergoes the chemical treatments during the production process, which ensures its durability of anti-piling function and long-lasting use. Unlike others, where the chemical treatments are applied in the finishing process, which will be washed away after certain washes. Pilbloc is widely used especially in sweaters, and we are really pleased that ID Knitting has taken it into one of their fabric ranges,” Ashwini Chotani, chief marketing officer of TAF said in the release.
