Retail sales in Poland at constant prices rose by 4.4 per cent in June 2024 compared to the same month the previous year, rebounding from a 4.7 per cent decrease in June 2023, according to Statistics Poland. Month-on-month, retail sales saw a modest increase of 0.3 per cent compared to May 2024. For the period of January to June 2024, sales increased year-on-year by 4.9 per cent, in contrast to a 5.7 per cent decrease during the corresponding period in 2023. When seasonal factors are excluded, retail sales at constant prices in June 2024 were 1.5 per cent higher than in May 2024.
Textiles, clothing, and footwear group saw a decline in in retail sales at constant prices in June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
The value of retail sales via the internet at current prices increased by 11.8 per cent in June 2024 compared to June 2023. The share of online sales in total retail sales rose from 7.7 per cent in June 2023 to 8.2 per cent in June 2024. Notably, the textiles, clothing, and footwear category saw a significant increase in online sales share, rising from 16.9 per cent a year ago to 21.6 per cent.
