Particularly notable were the performances of nonstore retailers, which saw an impressive 11.3 per cent year-over-year growth.
Overall retail and food services sales, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences but not for price changes, reached $709.6 billion. This represents a 0.7 per cent rise from the previous month and a 4 per cent increase from March 2023, as per the bureau.
The sales growth from January 2024 to February 2024 was revised upwards from 0.6 per cent to 0.9 per cent. For the first quarter of the year, total sales from January through March were up 2.1 per cent compared to the same period in the previous year.
