American retailer Kohl's names Fred Hand as director of stores

US retailer Kohl's has announced the appointment of retail veteran Fred Hand to the position of senior executive vice president (SEVP), director of stores. Reporting to president and chief operating officer Dave Alves, he will be part of the Kohl's senior executive leadership team and will support the company's strategic focus on driving store sales and productivity as a critical component of the company's omni-channel business.

Hand will oversee Kohl's 1,100+ stores, stores operations and experience, loss prevention and store experience and design functions, according to a company press release.

"Fred has a deep appreciation and passion for the power that brick and mortar retail plays in an omni-channel business model," said Alves. "He is committed to serving customers by empowering stores and associates and we are excited to welcome him to the Kohl's team."

Hand has a distinguished career in retail, with decades of store leadership and C-Suite experience, including more than 30 years leading the Stores organisations at national retailers including Burlington, Macy's and Filene's. Most recently, Hand was the chief executive officer of Tuesday Morning. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer at Burlington, where he led the Stores organisation for more than 13 years. Prior to Burlington, Hand held senior leadership positions in stores and visual merchandising at May Department Stores (then Macy's) and Filene's.
