The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Australia rose by 3.5 per cent in the 12 months to July 2024, a slight decrease from the 3.8 per cent recorded in June, according to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The CPI for clothing and footwear saw a 1.9 per cent increase over the same period, with garment prices rising by 3.1 per cent.
The annual movement for the overall monthly CPI indicator excluding volatile items and holiday travel was 3.7 per cent in July, down from a 4.0 per cent rise in June. The annual trimmed mean movement was 3.8 per cent in July, down from 4.1 per cent in June.
