Footwear firm Bata India will add 500 stores in the next five years, focusing mainly on smaller markets to strengthen its presence within India. The company has identified 180 tier II, III and IV cities where it is seeking franchise partners to broaden its sales network, Bata India said in a statement last week. It has over 150 franchise stores across India.

Over the last two years, it has increased presence in smaller towns and reinvigorated its portfolio to offer more contemporary, fashion and casual styles for the younger generation.
Bata India generated a revenue of ₹2,928.44 crore in fiscal 2018-19 and recorded a net profit of ₹329.66 crore in that period. Established in 1931, Bata India is a part of the Bata Shoe Organisation.
