Turnover in the non-food sector (including retail not in shops) increased by 5.2 per cent YoY, while sales volume (turnover adjusted for price changes) was up by 4.7 per cent YoY.
Shops selling footwear and leather products, clothes, pharmaceutical products, consumer electronics, DIY products and recreational goods saw YoY turnover growth in the month. However, shops selling home furnishings recorded a decrease in turnover.
Without calendar adjustment, retail turnover in September would have been 0.2 per cent lower YoY.
Online retail turnover increased by 10.5 per cent YoY in the country. Online retailers (whose core activity is selling goods and services over the internet) recorded a 12.1-per cent YoY increase in turnover in September.
Meanwhile, multi-channel retailers saw turnover in their online sales fall by 8.3 per cent YoY, a CBS release said.
Online turnover for clothing and fashion items was higher YoY in September.
