Over the three-month period ending in August, the value of retail sales increased by 0.2 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ), while sales volume declined by 0.1 per cent QoQ during the period.
On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the value of retail trade grew by 0.8 per cent, with a modest increase of 0.2 per cent in volume.
Large-scale distribution saw a YoY growth of 3 per cent in August, while small-scale distribution contracted by 0.9 per cent. Non-store retail sales declined by 2 per cent YoY. Following a rise in July, online sales registered a notable YoY decline in August, falling by 4.7 per cent.
Within the non-food product category, YoY performance showed mixed results.
