The Carrefour Group, a French multinational corporation specialised in retail, has posted 7.8 per cent sales growth like-for-like basis (LFL) to €78,609 million in the full fiscal 2020 that ended on December 31, 2020, compared to sales of €80,672 million in previous fiscal. Net income during the year slipped to €831 million (FY19: €1,308 million).

Gross margin decreased to €16,091 million (€15,445 million). However, operating income rose to €1,686 million (€1,071 million).
“2020 has been a year of commitment for Carrefour. That of our teams, mobilised in the service of our customers, who have successfully taken on immense sanitary, logistical and human challenges. That of our entire group, which consistently maintains the same level of extreme sanitary vigilance and the same attention to its social and environmental responsibility,” Alexandre Bompard, chairman and chief executive officer at Carrefour, said in a press release.
Sales in France for FY20 grew 3.6 per cent LFL to €37,937 million, while other European countries sales were up 3.5 per cent LFL to €23,606 million. Latin America’s sales jumped 23 per cent to €15,085 million.
