The consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, was up by 0.5 per cent year on year (YoY) in July, slightly higher than the 0.2-per cent YoY rise in June, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
A lack of market demand and the decline in the prices of some international commodities led to the country’s producer price index, which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, falling by 0.8 per cent YoY during the month, the same as in June.
