Rate of change of the Italian CPI increased by 0.2% MoM in Aug 2024

The rate of change of the Italian consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.2 per cent month on month in August.
A fall in the all-item index's growth on an annual basis was noted.
The YoY growth rate of CPI for goods was minus 0.5 per cent in August compared to minus 0.1 per cent in July.
Core inflation (bar energy and unprocessed food) was 1.9 per cent.

The rate of change of the Italian consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.2 per cent month on month (MoM) in August, according to official data.

The increase on a monthly basis was mainly due to the prices of regulated energy products, services related to transport and processed food.

A decrease in the all-item index’s growth on an annual basis was observed, mainly due to the prices of non-regulated energy products, durable goods and of services related to housing.

Core inflation (excluding energy and unprocessed food) was stable at 1.9 per cent and inflation excluding energy was 1.8 per cent in August, an Istat release said.

The year-on-year (YoY) growth rate of CPI for goods was minus 0.5 per cent in August compared to minus 0.1 per cent in July.
