Green Science Alliance has developed biodegradable textile fibre, yarn, and film with cellulose-based resin. The company has applied its nano cellulose composite technology to the cellulose-based material, producing “cellulose + nano cellulose” material. The company had earlier said that nano cellulose in biodegradable resin can increase biodegradability.
The work has been led by Dr. Ryohei Mori.Green Science Alliance has developed biodegradable textile fibre, yarn, and film with cellulose-based resin. The company has applied its nano cellulose composite technology to the cellulose-based material, producing "cellulose + nano cellulose" material. The company had earlier said that nano cellulose in biodegradable resin can increase biodegradability.#
The "cellulose + nano cellulose" resin is a new type of biodegradable resin material. Cellulose is an environmentally friendly biodegradable resin since most of biodegradable resins are composed of either petroleum or edible biomass. Using edible biomass such as corn, sugarcane, potato, etc as raw material leads to impact on food availability.
The team is working to improve resin properties such as mechanical properties, moulding properties, etc, in order to create good biodegradable resin fibre, yarn, film, as well as non-woven.
