In line with the sewing equipment industry’s expansion into the non-apparel sector, an increase in participation from suppliers of hardware, software, and services is anticipated. As one of the world’s leading sewing equipment trade fairs, JIAM is an international platform that brings together cutting-edge technologies, products, and services from domestic and overseas manufacturers, organiser Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association (JASMA) said in a press release.
The fair’s theme of ‘It all connects at JIAM - the forefront of technology and master craftsmanship’ underscores its role as a global platform for addressing issues such as soaring labour costs, labour shortages, and the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The previous edition in 2022 welcomed 150 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions as well as 10,452 visitors from 59 countries and regions, mainly from Bangladesh, India, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
These figures were achieved despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly reduced the number of visitors from China. The 2024 edition is therefore expecting a return to pre-pandemic levels of participation, as one of the world’s leading trade fairs for sewing equipment.
