Surat witnessed a groundbreaking event on November 19, 2024, as Lenzing AG, a global leader in sustainable fibre production, hosted The Lenzing Conclave. The event brought together industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in textile fibres, emphasising innovation and sustainability.

The agenda included a presentation on the Lenzing Group and fibre market trends by Avinash Mane, senior commercial director of sales (AMEA & NEA), followed by an introduction to the new TENCEL A100 and LF fibres for domestic applications and an overview of TENCEL and ECOVERO fibre offerings by the team members.

TENCEL A100 offers a silk-like sheen, comfort, and durability, making it a promising option for sarees and dress materials, with its softness maintained even after repeated washes. TENCEL LF fibres, designed for blending with cotton, provide enhanced strength and adaptability for both knits and woven textiles while supporting eco-conscious dyeing processes, the company said.

Discussions at the event examined the application of these fibres across various industries. In fashion, TENCEL fibres are increasingly used in premium sarees, dress materials, and knits. Home textiles also benefit from TENCEL LF microfibres, valued for their comfort and visual appeal. Leading global brands, including Levi’s and Jockey, have integrated TENCEL and ECOVERO fibres into their products, underscoring a growing industry preference for sustainable materials.

Lenzing reaffirmed its commitment to the environment with its sustainably sourced and biodegradable fibres, produced through a closed-loop process that minimises waste. The company’s facilities, including the world’s largest lyocell plant in Prachinburi, Thailand, are testaments to its dedication to eco-friendly manufacturing. The fibres have earned certifications such as FSC and PEFC, ensuring responsible sourcing and sustainable production methods.

Innovative developments were also a focal point, such as LENZING ECOVERO black fibres, which enhance colour retention while significantly reducing resource consumption and emissions. Matte TENCEL Lyocell fibres, with a low-shine finish and biodegradability, were also introduced, offering new possibilities for eco-friendly designs.

Marking 30 years of sustainable innovation, the event underscored the importance of advancing technology while prioritising environmental stewardship in the textile industry. These efforts reflect a broader commitment to creating a sustainable future in fashion and textiles.
