“The attendance at Irantex is a further step to enhance the strong relationship between the local textile industry and the Italian textile machinery sector,” ACIMIT said.
According to ACIMIT, international sanctions of the past years, delayed the modernisation process necessary for the Iranian industry to continue to be competitive.
In 2004, Iran was ranked among the top ten markets for Italian exports in the sector and after years of stagnation, Italian sales to Iran have managed to register a recovery.
In the first quarter of 2016, Italian textile machinery sales to Iran totaled to €2 million, while for the whole of 2015, sales stood at €8 million.
“Iranian demand is spread out over all types of textile production machinery, but Italian finishing and spinning machines are primarily in demand,” the trade body observed. (AR)
