In their commitment, the companies have vouched to accelerate the transition to a circular fashion system. The signatories are now working on setting their targets, which will be released in December this year.
Global Fashion Agenda operates as a leadership forum steering global sustainability conversation. It is the year-round agenda setting forum, which has Copenhagen Fashion Summit as its flagship event. It's linear 'take, make, dispose' economic model relies on large quantities of cheap, easily accessible materials and energy. It is a model that is reaching its physical limits with the world population and is expected to exceed 8.5 billion people. The global garment production is also expected to increase by 63 per cent by 2030.
Adidas, Asos, Bestseller, Eileen Fisher, Guess, Hugo Boss, Inditex, Lacoste, H&M Group, Kering, Nudie Jeans, Reformation, Target, Tommy Hilfiger and VF Corp are few of the signatories who have committed to work for a circular fashion system. (RR)
